What we do

RDA Tasmania centres provide equine activities which offer opportunities for anyone with a disability to enjoy safe, healthy, stimulating and therapeutic horse-related activities.

Horse riding is a natural reflex inhibiting position which helps improve balance and posture providing a unique form of exercise and rehabilitation.

Our 4 centres throughout Tasmania provide suitable horses, trained volunteer helpers, accredited RDA coaches, and riding and safety equipment to run a range of equestrian activities.

RDA Tasmania is affiliated with Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia Ltd (RDAA), which is a member of Federation of Horses in Education and Therapy International (HETI).

My son has a weekly session with the Riding for the Disabled group in Kalang Avenue. I can't recommend this group highly enough. The setting is calm and peaceful (as are the horses); the people involved are all genuinely welcoming and friendly and caring and they know how best to work with the horses and with the disabled clients. This has been a delightfully positive experience for our son and for us, his parents.
