The NDIS 'Out' Supports List
The NDIS does not fund 15 categories of goods and services that fall outside its scope.
These include everyday living expenses, standard lifestyle costs, and supports that are the responsibility of government funding areas.

Day-to-Day Living Costs: Rent, mortgage, bills, furniture, whitegoods, and utilities.

Finance & Legal: Donations, fines, insurances, superannuation, debts, legal costs, business expenses.

Food & Groceries: General groceries, takeaway, and food delivery (except pre-approved meal components).

Lifestyle & Entertainment: Smoking, gambling, phones, computers, gym memberships, events, recreational goods.

Clothing & Beauty: Non-adaptive clothing, jewellery, cosmetic services, tattoos, hair and nail services.

Travel & Vehicles: Holidays, fuel, registration, general vehicle purchase or maintenance, non-compliant devices.

Pets: Any pet-related costs unless the animal is a funded assistance animal.

Reproductive Health: Fertility treatments, surrogacy.

Alternative Therapies: Crystal healing, tarot, reiki, aromatherapy, yoga therapy, etc.

Wellness & Coaching: Life coaches, hypnotherapy, sports supplements, non-clinical massage.

Energy & Healing Practices: Shamanic healing, frequency therapy, scalar lounges, etc.

Health Services: Medical treatments, pharmaceuticals, emergency services, diagnostics, hospital care.

Mental Health: Hospital-based clinical services, addiction treatments, prescription drugs.

Child Protection & Family: Parenting programs, babysitting, marriage counselling, OOHC services.

Education & Employment: Tuition fees, uniforms, education-related supports, employer obligations.

Housing & Infrastructure: Standard housing, social housing upgrades, homelessness services, mobile homes.

Public Transport: Fares, concessions, transport infrastructure, airline lounge access.

Justice System: Supervision in custody, psychological reports, secure accommodation for offenders.

Aged Care: Daily care, health services, aged care accommodation and services per Aged Care Act.

Unlawful or Non-Compliant Items: Illegal goods, non-certified modifications, weapons, seclusion rooms.

Income Replacement: Rent subsidies, income support or top-ups.

Sexual services, alcohol, drugs, or services that breach state or federal laws.
